ION Robotic Lawn Mower Competition http://robomow.ion.org Wed, 10 Oct 2012 20:32:33 +0000 en-US hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.4 2012 was the final competition year http://robomow.ion.org/?p=285 http://robomow.ion.org/?p=285#comments Tue, 11 Sep 2012 14:02:58 +0000 EricV http://robomow.ion.org/?p=285 Due to funding uncertainty, the ION and AFRL have decided not to hold a 10th annual RLC in the summer of 2013.  After having provided nine successful competitions for over 450 students from 25 schools, we felt it was time to make a change in order to reduce funding/infrastructure/manpower requirements.  We’re planning to present a new competition concept for spring/summer 2014 (indoor quadrotor navigation, on-site coding challenge, etc. – feel free to provide your ideas!) and are working to have that finalized by the summer of 2013.  The ION Snowplow Competition(autosnowplow.com, Jan. 2013) is another option if teams wish to repurpose an existing mower chassis in the current academic year.
